How to Help

Volunteer

The Literacy Connection needs volunteers to tutor adults in Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL).

If you are at least 18 years old, can read, write and speak English, we invite you to become a volunteer tutor. No teaching experience or knowledge of a second language is required, and the time commitment is minimal.

Potential volunteers are asked to attend a one-hour orientation remotely. After that, they may decide whether to complete the online tutor training to be a tutor. The orientation session is available by appointment only. A $35.00 fee is charged to cover materials and background check.

Administrative volunteers are also needed for mailings, graphic and web design, event planning, and other special projects.
