The Literacy Connection Endowment Fund

The Literacy Connection established its Endowment Fund to honor those who have come together to support literacy efforts locally since the organization was founded in 1984, and to provide ongoing, enhanced literacy opportunities for all who live and/or work in the geographic areas the organization serves.

Endowment Fund assets shall be identified at the moment they are received. The assets may be received from:

1)  Individual or Entity Donors;

2)  Income from assets;

3)  Designation of operating fund by the Organization’s Board of Directors;

4)  Bequeaths from wills, trusts, estates, etc.

5)  Other sources as approved by the Executive Committee.

Any Endowment Fund donor can make a cash pledge. Cash pledges can be paid over three (3) years. Whether the Donor pledges via a one-time gift or an acceptable payment plan (i.e. automatic payments via credit/debit card; payroll deduction; etc.), Endowment Fund donor pledge levels are designated as follows:

All donors at the giving levels above will be recognized via The Literacy Connection’s “Wall of Fame” and via The Literacy Connection’s website Endowment Fund Donor site. All donations are subject to gift acceptance policies outlined in the Endowment Fund’s General Operating Guidelines.

Donate your time and talents

Become a volunteer literacy tutor for The Literacy Connection. If you can donate 1-2 hours weekly to help a neighbor learn to read, write, speak and understand English, you can literally change lives! Our tutors help learners and, by extension, their families, to become more self-sufficient and fully functioning members of our community. Orientation and training sessions for new tutors are held monthly, except for August and December. Once you complete 12 hours of training, you will be paired with a learner to work with him or her a few hours weekly in a mutually convenient public place.
