The Literacy Connection is a 501c3 non-profit organization helping adult individuals learn to read, write, speak and understand English. Adult learners are provided one-on-one or small group tutoring services for free in the sixteen northwest Chicago suburban communities we serve. All donations are tax deductible to the full amount allowed by law.

ESL Conversation Groups: Building confidence and bridging conversation gaps.

Tutors host small groups of adult learners at various skill levels and stimulate casual conversations in English through the use of games, stories, role-playing, show-and-tell, videos and other visual aids. English learners increase their vocabulary, understanding and self-confidence as they learn to discuss a variety of subjects with their peers. Usually, learners that participate in these conversation groups have signed up for the one-on-one adult tutoring program, and are waiting to be matched with a tutor.

This free drop-in group takes place every Tuesday of each month from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. both in-person and virtually through Zoom. Registration is required; there are three ways to register 1) online at gailborden.info/register, 2) Call (847)429-4597, or 3) in-person to join this group.
