Businesses

Businesses can get involved with The Literacy Connection in many ways. Private businesses, schools and other non-profits can invite us to events at which we can educate people --potential learners and potential tutors alike-- about the state of local literacy, and also about our programs. We also can customize workplace literacy programs for businesses who wish to provide their employees with onsite English instruction that will help them be more productive and successful in their job roles.

Some businesses look to us to provide volunteer opportunities for their employees, whether to train them to be tutors or to assist at a local event or fundraiser. Area banks, libraries and churches provide literacy tutor training locations, tutor and learner recruitment, tutoring locations and community support.

We also welcome board members from area businesses, to give us fresh perspective on our programs, procedures and possibilities.
